Robert Mugabe’s motorcade

Two men from Bulawayo, who were arrested last Friday after they refused to give way to Robert Mugabe’s motorcade, appeared separately in court on Monday and were released on $100 bail each.

Prayer Gavhanga and Newton Mlotshwa, both engineers from Bulawayo, made headlines last week after they refused to follow instructions from the lead biker in Mugabe’s convoy, who ordered them to pull over. Mugabe was in Bulawayo for a graduation ceremony at the National University of Science and Technology.

Sergeant Jeche, the lead biker in the convoy, stopped his bike to block Gavhanga’s car. He then walked over, took the keys from the ignition and had Gavhanga arrested.
The passenger Mlotshwa decided to act. He got out of the car and grabbed Sergeant Jeche’s bike, preventing him from leaving as well. Soldiers who were in the motorcade came to Jeche’s aid and arrested Mlotshwa.

Gavhanga, who was driving, appeared before magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure and was charged with “failing to comply with lawful instructions from a police officer”. Appearing separately before magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa, Mlotshwa was charged with “hindering or resisting a police officer”.
The pair has been praised by many people for being brave enough to challenge the police in Mugabe’s convoy, who have a reputation for speeding through local streets and recently causing several deaths due to carelessness.

Political commentator Wilbert Mukori told SW Radio Africa that the public reaction shows just how Zimbabweans are feeling a sense of frustration with their lives and with the political situation that is not changing.
“People find themselves in a situation where for weeks on end there is no water. There is no electricity and nothing is going well. Then one day somebody bullies you around and says ‘pull over’.
Mukori added that the pair also showed a sense of courage, in a country where people are normally too afraid to demonstrate about important issues.

Hey Gwaya it is no use trying to talk to this nut job Chimbwido idiotvet, you are wasting precious time. God Bless Zimbabwe….

That is why most of you get in trouble because you want to take the law in your own hands. The laws of the land should be followed to the letter. Those who disobey the law will have themselves to blame as they will face the wrath of law, believe the Warvet or not for he does’t really care.
The bottom line is you can not genuinely say there is no rule of law in Zimbabwe when you already disregard the laws that are in place.

Laws are there for a good reason and should be followed by all of us. There should be no double standards when we talk of the rule of law in the country. If laws have been made no matter how stupid they may appear, they have to be followed by all residents of this country to the letter until they are changed. To talk of the need for practicing the rule of law during the day and go against it during the night is foolhardy stupidity and immaturity. Even if Tsvangirai becomes the Head of State, which is highly doubtful, laws will be put in place for his protection. And people should simply do the right thing and that is to obey laws of the land and nobody will get hurt. It is a simple as that.

Agreed, one has to follow the laws of the day…. but you must admit that RG goes way overboard with his cavalcade… If MDC get in next year one can be sure the cavalcade will be a lot smaller and not as arrogant.

You are promoting the rule of the jungle and not the rule of law in this country. I can now understand why people get in trouble. When I was growing up as a young lad, my mother used to tell me to stay very far away from fire. Her advice which I took on-board shaped my life and ever since I have never been in trouble. But the youth of today land themselves in trouble by taking the law in their own hands but they are quick at crying foul when they are beaten or kicked very hard. Let they be no mistaken belief that the law enforcement agencies will simply fold their hands while there is lawlessness in the country. They shall be seen to be carrying out their responsibilities without fear or favour. If Tsvangirai becomes the next Head of State, which is most unlikely, he will ensure the laws of the country are upheld. That is how it works guys.

Tell the real reason you ran away from the country to which you risked your own life – Mugabe made it into his Real Estate. If Zimbabwe is his private property then rules to that end must be made and followed.

    fuck Mugabe
