Last Chiredzi farms under threat

Digby Nesbitt was visited by Dep Chief Commissioner Veterai, (was Propol Masvingo a while back and was down here a lot). He, in company of DA, CIO, Lands et al insisted on full tour of the house, Granny Nesbitt's cottage, crocs, etc. He has told Digby to get off (date still be determined) as he will be taking the full 65ha left to Digby as well as all the housing and the crocs. He offered to pay something for the crocs.
Veterai has obviously decided to bin his completely failed 40ha plot of cane on the Wenham's place. And the house which has run out of water, zesa, etc. The Police chief has put his own personal 24hr police guard on Digby Nesbitt's farm to prevent him 'stealing' his own things.

Brian and Sally Alford's remaining 60ha, homestead, orchard, etc claimed by daughter of Masvingo Governor Willard Chiwewe, who is in her mid-20's. Again entourage of DA, CIO, Lands, etc. Offer letter dated 2nd Feb. News on the ground is that since November Chiwewe was after the place and so strong feeling that daughter is just a front. Inspected water tanks to see they were not the moveable variety (too many farmers have left with theirs). Went through motions of touring farm yard, dairy herd etc but had lost interest after itemising the aircons. Did not even know what most of the implements were.... If Alfords behave they can stay on til end of crop in October, if not ... well who knows??

Eric Wiehe visited by same group, only this time it was DA Shumba himself claiming Eric's last 60ha and homestead for himself and minutely itemised every fixture in the house. Again fixation on the aircons, less interest in the implements. If Eric 'behaves' he may stay on until end of harvest in October, or they may give him 24hrs. Wiehe's farm supposed to be covered by Mauritius BIPPA.

Greig Henning was jambanjaed Tuesday by a crowd including Lands, CIO, ZRP and DA's office and told to get out by yesterday. He is living in the house on Eric Le Vieux's farm, where all land totally occupied. He was still there as of yesterday noon, but is not relishing the Easter weekend ahead.

What a week it's been..
