Mugabe’s bodyguard loses job over first lady

News website Zimonline reports that Robert Mugabe’s senior bodyguard, Winston Changara, has been demoted on allegations of indecently assaulting Mugabe’s wife Grace. The website says Grace Mugabe reported advances from the policeman to her husband while also citing a separate case of indecent assault.
It’s alleged that the Zanu PF leader insisted on launching a probe into the allegations but matters came to a head when Grace refused to join Mugabe on a trip to Beijing if Changara was to be in the same delegation. As a result the long time bodyguard has been demoted to the demeaning ‘commissioners pool’ a club for disgraced senior police officers that have been stripped of their benefits.
Home Affairs minister, Kembo Mohadi has not confirmed or denied the story saying instead Changara is absent from his guard duties because of illness. Chief Superintendent Makanda who at the time was commander of police in Harare district has since replaced Changara as chief bodyguard to Mugabe.
