Women wearing trousers and mini skirts are allegedly being harassed and beaten up by elements within the police riot squads in the western border town of Plumtree.

Our correspondent in Bulawayo Themba Nkosi said men with dreadlocks have also been harassed, beaten up and arrested by members of the police. It's reported that the infamous 'green bombers' are also taking part.

When the state sponsored clean up operation began two months ago there were reports that police in Bulawayo were harassing women wearing trousers and mini skirts but Newsreel could not get confirmation of the reports.

This is the first time that the reports have been confirmed and Themba Nkosi is on his way to the border town to investigate the reports.
