Meanwhile Simon confirmed that demolitions in Harare's low-density suburbs continued on Tuesday with many residents taking down structures built without the authority of the council.

The latest clean up operation will also target the wealthy northern suburbs of the capital city. The operation, which began on May 19 has been condemned worldwide and has left more than one million people homeless.

According to Simon the latest clean up operation targeted middle class suburbs like Hatfield, Queensdale, Cranborne, Hillside and Greendale.

Many members of Robert Mugabe's military elite, including almost all cabinet ministers and senior members of the intelligence services have houses in the northern suburbs of Harare.

It would be interesting to see if the police go knocking at the gates of people like the feared Air Marshall of the Airforce of Zimbabwe Perence Shiri or the equally brutal Army General Constantine Chiwenga.
