The Save Zimbabwe Campaign prayer meeting scheduled for Saturday 14 th April, went ahead relatively peacefully in Bulawayo. According to one of the organisers, Pastor Lucky Moyo, this well attended meeting saw the unification in purpose of clergy, civic leaders, opposition parties and the general population, with scores of speakers from home and beyond. He also believes government may have for the first time tacitly agreed with the obvious truth that Zimbabweans are generally a peace-loving people and cherish their constitutional rights to assembly and freedom of speech. This heralds the start of many prayer meetings to come.

The meeting was held at St Patrick's Church in Makokoba, Bulawayo. Although there was police presence, they did not interfere with the gathering. All the speakers, including outspoken cleric Arch-Bishop Pius Ncube, made conciliatory addresses which underlined the theme of the proceedings. It was a realisation from all the people who spoke and attended the meeting, that the time to right the wrongs in Zimbabwe was now, and in effect the nation was bleeding and could not be allowed to carry on this way. It implored the political leaders of the country to come together as they had done, to effect change for the good of the country.
