abolishes shadow cabinet and appoints spokespersons for parliamentary
portfolios

The MDC has announced the abolishment of its shadow cabinet and replaced
it with what it terms representatives of parliamentary committees.
An MDC official said that the party decided to do away with the shadow
cabinet as it made more sense to choose parliamentary representatives
as the party was actively involved in parliament.
Most of the officials who held key positions in the former cabinet
and are in parliament have retained their posts. MP Giles Mutswekwa
will head the committee on Defence and Security portfolio, Blessing
Chebundo the Health portfolio, David Coltart represents the Justice
and parliamentary affairs department and Fidelis Mashu retains the
Education post.
Newcomers include Harare North MP Trudy Stevenson who now holds the
Local Government portfolio in parliament. Bulililama MP Moses Mzila
Ndlovu has bounced back and is now head of Foreign Affairs, a position
previously held by outspoken politician Priscilla Misihairabwi.
