Zimbabwe soccer champions Caps United and their bitter rivals Highlanders
are due to fly into the UK on Thursday evening for their eagerly
awaited historic friendly match on Saturday.
The two Zimbabwe soccer giants will square up again
in Bradford, West Yorkshire, less than a week after Highlanders
knocked former Cup kings Caps United out of the OK Cup at Barbourfields
in Bulawayo.
Both teams are just waiting to get the green light
from the British Embassy in Harare concerning their visas. One of
the organisers of the match, Taru Simbi, told us it has taken him
and his partner Barry Posiwe 7 months to prepare for this grudge
encounter between Makepekepe and Bosso.
What we are waiting for now is a decision from
the British Embassy officials in Harare. Both teams have submitted
their travel documents to the Embassy, courtesy of ZIFA officials,
said Simbi.
The match at the 24 000 seat Bradford Bulls stadium
has raised a lot of expectations in the United Kingdom. Both Caps
United and Highlanders command a huge legion of supporters in the
UK.
The organisers will certainly make history for themselves
by becoming the first pair to organise a top of the bill
football match between two Zimbabwe soccer giants in the UK.
Simbi said; We have received an overwhelming
response from Zimbabweans spread right across the UK. People are
pumped up for this great clash and I am sure both coaches will bring
in their strongest sides.
