Black market traders in Bulawayo are selling petrol and diesel at $200 000 or more per 5 litres, whilst the recently gazetted government price was pegged at $10 000 per litre.

The price of bread has also gone up to $7000 from $3500. Prices of other commodities like cooking oil, sugar and salt have all gone up, although the commodities are in short supply.

Zimbabwe Independent Journalist Savious Kwinika said life in the city has become a struggle for most to survive because of the crippling shortages.

Kwinika said government announced that the fuel situation will improve in the next two weeks but remained silent on the steadily deteriorating crisis regarding bread shortages.
