UK introduces new regulations on asylum seekers

The UK Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Nationality Tony McNulty, announced Wednesday that from 30th August, refugees will be granted five years limited leave if their asylum cases are successful, rather than indefinite stay as is at present. If there is a significant change in conditions of the home country, UK officials will consider this in line with the conventions governing asylum issues, and there will be a review of asylum seekers from that country.

Asylum seekers will continue to be entitled to use public services and to claim key mainstream benefits.

Additionally, from 30th August beneficiaries of humanitarian protection will be granted five years limited leave, rather than three at present.
