Players disappear

Caps United and Highlanders officials were holding their breaths late on Tuesday wondering whether all their players will fly back home from a friendly match at the Bradford Bulls stadium on Saturday.

Thirty-six players, 18 from each club and 14 officials made the trip to the UK last week Friday. The delegation was expected to fly back on a British Airways flight late on Tuesday.

According to Premier Soccer League fixtures secretary Godfrey Japajapa, who is also in the UK as part of the delegation, it was too early to suggest that any player has gone missing from the delegation because most of them were allowed to visit relatives after the match on Saturday.

‘The players have been trickling in slowly to rejoin their squads. For instance, it was reported that six Caps United players had disappeared since Saturday, but by Tuesday morning two had come back and the rest were in constant touch with their team officials,’ said Japajapa.

NewZimbabwe.Com Editor Mduduzi Mathuthu said officials from both teams have been privately expressing fears some of the players may desert.
