Christmas special
By Tichaona Simbanda
20 December 2005
The festive season is upon us now, and not many years ago it was an occasion that would bring families and friends together. During the period, people would drink, be merry and reminisce about events of the past year, and in the process look forward to a happy new year.
Not now. Most people that we spoke to highlighted the fact that rather than spend quality time with their friends and family, most Zimbabweans will be busy thinking of where they will be getting their next meal.
Bowen Ndlovu, Steven Paradza and Ivy Tshuma are some of the people who shared with us their plans for the festive season. They blamed the current political climate, fuelled by an uncompromising regime as the reason for Zimbabweans to find themselves in dire straits.
Those were some of people who spoke to us on Tuesday about how different the Christmas and New Year celebrations are now from many years back.
