MDC Director of Elections Remus Makuwaza finally laid to rest

The MDC’s Director of Elections, Remus Makuwaza, who died two weeks ago in London, was finally laid to rest Tuesday at his home in Makoni District, Manicaland Province. The MDC reports that despite complaints by local villagers of intimidation by ZANU PF supporters against those who wanted to attend the burial, hundreds of Tandi villagers braved the intimidation and attended the burial. The top leadership of both the MDC and Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions also attended.

The MDC said is a statement that several speakers spoke very highly of the immense contribution that Makwaza made in the struggle for democracy in Zimbabwe.
