Violence and Mbeki only remaining pillars for Mugabe: MDC

The MDC have dismissed Friday’s one-man election as a sham and said Mugabe, ‘is only left with two pillars of support - South African President’s reluctance to come out strongly in condemning Mugabe’s terror campaign and halt the discredited run-off poll which took place Friday.
MDC spokesman Nelson Chamisa told Newsreel events on Friday were not an election, ‘but something else yet to be defined in the dictionary of mankind.’ He explained that in an election, ‘you should have representatives, competition, accountability and observation. All these ingredients were not there,’ he said. He described the poll as an insult to all Zimbabweans.
‘It was basically a confirmation of the will of Zanu PF and Mugabe. We have the capacity to win any election in this country because we are popular and our message connects with the people. We lose elections to rigging, violence and theft,’ Chamisa added.
