MDC supporters in Midlands South were last night attacked by a group of rowdy Zanu PF thugs led by Maguta soldiers at Musume Business Center in Mberengwa leaving three of the activists, including the driver, injured. The three, Cainos Shava, Artwell Chidya and Fidelis Rutsvara sustained injuries and were admitted at a Gweru hospital.

In Mashonaland East province, hundreds of Muzarabani residents are expected to assemble in solidarity with victims of political violence in the area to submit a petition to the Zimbabwe Republic Police tomorrow. Victims of political violence in Muzarabani North and South districts will assemble at Muzarabani Growth point in the morning before submitting the petition to the police.

One of the major grievances outlined by the people of Muzarabani is that the perpetrators of violence continue to intimidate and harass people in the two districts. The perpetrators are never arrested.

Another issue that has arisen is that of the roles of traditional leaders who are meddling in politics to promote polarization and discrimination against people of other political parties, with the people citing Chief Kasekete as the major culprit who is sowing division in his area on partisan lines. The people will be calling on the police to do their duties without fear or favour and to bring to book all perpetrators of violence regardless of political affiliation.

In Matabeleland North province, Zanu PF youths, under the instructions of Jabulani Sibanda, are threatening and intimidating villagers in Umguza district ward 12 ahead of the Constitution making public meetings. In Manicaland province, Copac meetings resumed yesterday with consultations taking place in Musikavanhu. The Copac teams have today visited Chipinge Central to gather more views.
The outreach meetings were last week suspended after Zanu PF leaders and supporters intimidated people in the various centers.
