The MDC President and Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai today commissioned a library at one of the five primary schools in Budiriro in Harare which have received about 20 000 books and computers worth thousands of dollars.

The books were sourced by the Science and Technology minister and Budiriro MP, Professor Heneri Dzinotyiwei from the government of South Korea.

Hon. Tsvangirai said the inclusive government was committed to investing in the youth through education.

In Masvingo province, six MDC MPs were today summoned to Masvingo central police station on trumped up charges of instigating violence at Makotore business centre in ward 32 in Bikita West.

The six, who include Masvingo Urban MP and deputy Youth minister Hon. Tongai Matutu, Bikita West MP Hon. Heya Shoko, Hon. Jani Varandeni Bikita South MP, Bikita East MP Hon. Edmore Marima, Hon. Earnest Mudavanhu, Zaka North MP and Zaka Senator Misheck Marava are accused of beating up people at Makotore business centre on the 14th of August this year.

In ward one of Masvingo North, Major Badza, a member of the Zimbabwe National Army, addressed a rally at Bawa business centre last Sunday in full military gear threatening to beat up villagers for supporting the MDC.

Freddy Navaya, a Zanu PF member who is a war veteran, also threatened villagers with eviction while addressing a rally at Makasi primary school, ward 19 in Masvingo Central last week.

Village head Tadius Makasi of Chiomberegwa village in Masvingo central is also forcing villagers to parrot the Zanu PF position in the outreach programme and all those thought to be sympathetic to the MDC have been threatened with unspecified action.

In Mashonaland East province, judgement on the case of Marondera Central MP, Hon Ian Kay, who is facing trumped up charges of distributing expired drugs, has been postponed to the 10th of September. The judgement which was initially set for today was postponed after the magistrate said the judgment was not ready.

The MDC Vice President Hon. Thokozani Khupe donated groceries worth thousands of dollars to Silobela district Hospital in Midlands North during her tour of the hospital on Saturday.

The ministry of Health and Child welfare has chosen Hon Khupe to be the goodwill Ambassador of the Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality campaign.

In Mashonaland West province, the MDC Mashonaland West provincial driver, Stanley Pindiriri was on Saturday abducted by Zanu PF supporters at Imongeni Farm in Chegutu West.Pindiriri, who managed to escape from his abductors, was mobilizing MDC supporters to attend Copac meetings in the district. The thugs also deflated the tyres of the MDC provincial vehicle and broke its windscreen and windows. A police report was made but no one has been arrested.

Meanwhile, MDC councillor for ward 6 in Victoria Falls, Simon Petros Ndlovu passed away on Friday night after reacting to a drug. Councilor Ndlovu started a garden project in his ward which now sustains more than 25 families. He is survived by his wife Thatshisiwe Nkomo and 12 children.
