On Sat 10th May all villagers (a few hundred?) in the Chibvamba area of Zaka were rounded up around 11am by the Zanu PF youth and in front of their eyes their Chief Bota, his headman Guyo among others were beaten to a pulp for voting MDC. The chiefs pregnant daughter in law was also beaten for hosting MDC meetings in her home and almost immediately thereafter suffered a miscarriage.

All MDC membership cards that could be found were confiscated. All forced to get Zanu cards, shirts and to vote Zanu next round. My gardener fled the village with his sister-in-law and children on Sunday morning, and said that the Chief and his headman were still unconscious when he left. The gardener's brother was brutally beaten in Nyajena some 10 days ago and he died 2 days later of his injuries. He had brought the sister-in-law to Chibvamba apparently for safety, but she is now here, awaiting plan B.
